The variations of altitude, diversity of habitat, and extreme precipitation are factors which are responsible for the diversity and abundance of resident birds in this region The Bengal Florican, Dark rumped Swift, White-Winged Duck, and the Marsh Babbler are some of the most sought after birds. Black breasted Parrotbill has been sighed at
Kaziranga and
Dibru- Saikhowa. To get to see the White-belied Heron, Snowy-throated Babbler, Rufus -Vented Laughing thrush, Rufus-backed Sibia , Beautiful Nuthatch, Rufous-necked, great and wreathed hornbills, Black-necked crane, Emerald cuckoo , Blood pheasant, Monal, Ibisbill, Purple cochoa, Long-tailed and collared broadbills, Blue-naped pitta, Vivid niltava, Long-billed plover and black-headed shrike-babbler, to name just a few - take a trip to the North East.
Traveling here is more expensive due to government royalties, but with restrictions being gradually lifted, it is now possible obtain permits to enjoy birding in these parts. Birding List of the RegionItinerary:Day 01: Arrive at Dibrugarh airport from Delhi, or Kolkota. Transfer to Digboi guest house for overnight stay.
Day 02: Full day birding at Digboi oil fields.Day 03: Digboi - Deban (Namdhapa National Park)Early morning drive to Deban - 76 Kms in 3 hrs, Miao, entering the State of Arunachal Pradesh. On the way we will be making stops for birding between Miao and Deban. Upon arrival at Deban we will spend the remaining day birding on foot around the Forest Lodge. Overnight at Forest Lodge, in rooms or tents.
Day 04 - 08: Birding trek across the Nao Dihing-Namdapa Rivers & return.We have six full days for birding. We plan to take you on a five-night and six-day trek from Deban upto Firm Base, and surroundings, before retracing our steps back to Deban. The walking will be very easy and at a slow pace to allow time to look for interesting new species, in forests teeming with birds. Overnights will be in our fully serviced camps.
Day 09: Transfer Namdhapa NP to Dibru Saikhowa Biosphere reserve.Drive 131 Kms to Dibru-saikhowa. The driving time is 03-04 hrs. Check in at the Bonoshree lodge. In the afternoon birding around Gujan. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 10 : Dibru Saikhowa. Full day birding by boat and on foot. We will be birding in grasslands, swamps and forest habitat. Overnight at the lodge.
Day 11: Transfer Dibru saikhowa to Dibrugarh.Package Price: INR 67750 + GST per person (Min 02 Pax)
